Introduce your preschool-aged child to books and the library through the magic of Storytime. Children not only love stories, but listening to stories and rhymes are important early steps toward literacy. Storytime activities provide an engaging introduction to the written word that will encourage a lifelong love of books, reading, and learning. Songs, action rhymes, and finger plays enhance learning while getting children up and moving together. Motor, social, and language skills blossom in a fun, safe environment.
Although the program is geared mainly toward 3 to 6-year-olds, all young children are welcome to attend. Parents can enjoy the stories with their children, or relax in the reading area. Younger children may enjoy Babytime or Toddlertime.
Sessions are free, drop-in, and open to all parents and caregivers of young children. Contact Sandra at the library for more information.
Also, watch for other children’s programs and events throughout the year:
- Summer Reading Club runs during the summer months in July and August
- LEGO Time runs all year on Thursdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Thank you to SD54 and the Friends of the Smithers Library for sponsoring this program.
